Shaquille O'Neal Has a Sitcom In the Works, and It Might Actually Be Amazing

By

Shaquille O'Neal might be doing more than just playing basketball- he might just be starring in new sitcom. And don't let little things like "Kazaam" or "Steel" (two of Shaq's early acting efforts, and two of the most embarassing movies in recent memory) get you down- according to those who've seen Shaq's early sitcom efforts, this show might actually be pretty hilarious.

TMZ has the scoop on this- according to them, the show will be called "Shaq Inc.," and will be produced by both the basketball superstar and TV producer Mike Tollin (who's previously hitched his name to "One Tree Hill" and "Smallville"). According to them, TruTV has given "Shaq Inc." the greenlight, but it's not clear yet when the show might premiere.

More information on "Shaq Inc." can be found over at Deadline- apparently, the show is described as similar to the political sitcom "Veep," and will follow a fictionalized version of Shaq as he runs the business side of things. He and his business team will manage the star's endorsements and sponsorships, as Shaq comes up with new and ridiculous ideas to tie his name to.

Said Tollin on Shaq's star power: "There is no denying Shaq's multifaceted appeal. Shaquille and I have been friends for 20 years, and his growth as a businessman never ceases to amaze and amuse me."

Meanwhile, TMZ has actually found a copy of an old pilot script for the show- and they're saying it's far funnier than you'd expect from a Shaq TV show.

Apparently, the script mocks "Shaq Vs.," a previous show that Shaq had starred in, but failed to find any kind of popularity. Some replacement ideas, via the "Shaq Inc." pilot- "Shaq vs. Crack," "Shack vs. Iraq," "Yak vs. Shaq." We'd pay good money to see that last one, for sure.

There's sure to be more to come as "Shaq Inc." moves closer to its TV premiere (and right now it's still so very far away), but things are looking up for this strange combination of "Shaq" and "sitcom."
