Additional cast for "X-Men: Apocalypse" has been dropped, with Alexandra Shipp playing a younger version of Storm while "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner has been chosen to be young Jean Grey. Tye Sheridan has also been cast as Cyclops.
Actors to play younger versions of Jean Grey, Storm, and Cyclops have been revealed by movie director Bryan Singer himself on Twitter, revealing that Shipp, Turner, and Sheridan will now have mutant roles to play.
While many are excited, Shipp's addition to the cast was met with some worry after her performance in "Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B" received mostly lukewarm responses. Shipp will be stepping into the role brought to life by Halle Berry.
The 23-year-old Shipp is no stranger to acting, as she has other projects including "Days of Our Lives," and "Straight Outta Compton," which is set for an August 2015 release date, shares All Hip Hop. In fact, the actor has been occupied with acting engagements for the past year. Shipp was also on VH1's "Drumline" sequel.
Meanwhile, Turner, who is widely known for her role as Sansa Stark in HBO's "Game of Thrones," is the younger version of Jean Grey, who was portrayed in earlier X-Men films by Famke Janssen.
James Marsden's Cyclops will be played by Tye Sheridan, CBS News adds. The 18-year-old actor is remembered for his role in 2011 Oscar-nominated "Tree of Life."
According to People, "X-Men: Apocalypse" revolves around the origins of mutants. Filming for the latest "X-Men" installment has started back in April involving recurring actors James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Evan Peters.
The upcoming movie's focus will be the "First Class" generation, as Indie Wire shares: "'Apocalypse' will focus mostly on the generation of X-Men introduced in 'X-Men: First Class'-essentially, younger versions of Mystique (as played by Jennifer Lawrence), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), and Charles Xavier (James McAvoy)."
Oscar Isaac is also included in the cast, playing the role of "Apocalypse," the movie's supervillain.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" will premiere on May 27, 2016.
