"X-Men Apocalypse" wants Tom Hardy as Apocalypse for the 2016 movie while actors to play younger versions of Jean Grey, Storm, and Cyclops remain unnamed. A possible new title for the upcoming X-Men movie is "X-Men: Akkaba."
Tom Hardy is a popular choice among superhero movies, and according to Christian Today, both Marvel and DC has been won over by the actor. Wanted for the titular role of Apocalypse in the next installment of "X-Men" movies, Hardy is linked to DC's "Suicide Squad" and Marvel's "Doctor Strange." However, according to Ecumenical News, Hardy has been rumored to have dropped out of "Doctor Strange" in favor of "Suicide Squad," which is scheduled for a release on August 2016.
Should Hardy be on board for the movie, he will play the character of En Sabah Nur, or "The First One." According to Christian Today, "In the Marvel Universe, his back story was traced back in Ancient Egypt. Apocalypse was tagged as an enemy of Pharaoh Rama-Tut as he is first mutant that walked the Earth." The conflict of the story is Apocalypse revealing to people that he a god and using his power as proof. To meet with Apocalypse, the main cast of "X-Men" will have to travel back in time.
Ecumenical News also shares that the movie's title might be changed to "X-Men: Akkaba." The word is a description of a "group of people who worship and follow Apocalypse."
Younger versions of Jean Grey, Storm, and Cyclops will be seen in the movie to fight Apocalypse, but there is no news yet of whether someone has already been cast.
Mutant Quicksilver, played by Evan Peters, is also expected to return. Peters was first seen on "X-Men: Days of Future Past."
In the comic books, the timeline of the "Age of Apocalypse" is a particularly complicated one. Comic Book explains, "The original 'Age of Apocalypse' was an unprecedented, line wide X-Men event that had every X-title cancelled and replaced by new books featuring darker versions of the X-Men characters, from a dismal alternate universe."
