For the memory of Kurt Cobain, his widow Courtney Love and only daughter Frances Bean Cobain seen in one public event after a long time. That must be the answer why the union of these two women happened at the Sundance Film Festival's red carpet where the documentary Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck is one the premier movies.
The 22-year old Cobain posts as the executive producer of this tribute for her late famous dad, who committed suicide on April 8, 1994. The said film is eighth years in the making and features interviews, photos, music and other stuff that Nirvana star left behind. US Weekly cited that Montage of Heck director Brett Morgan honored Frances Bean as the major factor why this project came out.
"First Courtney was involved, then Frances became involved. Frances Bean is really why we're all here. This movie is for her. Frances and I shared the exact same vision about what this film should be, everybody came on board," Morgen said.
In Rolling Stone's account, Crossfire Hurricane director said during the screening that he wanted Frances to have more time with him. He also commended Love for her generosity to let them touched her husband's memorabilia, which of course has huge part on tribute film's content.
"Frances told me that, 'People act like my dad was Santa Claus,'" Morgen shared. "'And he wasn't Santa Claus.' I think she realized that after seeing the movie."
Frances was barely 2-year old when her dad died and her relationship with 50- year old mom has fair share of ups and down. It was remembered during her early years, Vanity Fair magazine exposed that Love was using heroin during her pregnancy. This came to a point that her parents', both alternative rock singers from different bands, right for her custody stripped away.
"So sad @brettmorgen @alka_seltzer666 [Frances Bean Cobain] so so sad yet so uplifting, beautiful and gorgeous. Your daddy would be so proud of you baby. thank u," Love tweets after seeing the film.
