Gina Rodriguez, the Jane the Virgin star, surprisingly scored an award in Golden Globes. Rodriguez was then praised by her co-stars in the series.
When asked about her award, she recalled about what went to her brain when her name was called. She said, "I was like, 'Don't trip, thank you God, thank you God, don't trip ... don't forget anybody's name. Was that Oprah? That was Oprah! Oh my God!"
With her winning as the "Best Actress for Television Series Musical or Comedy," it gave her the chance to reunite and to celebrate the award together with her 700 relatives and they partied together.
"I was told if I had the Golden Globe, I could get into anywhere ... so my 700 relatives all came to the party. My father was guarding the trophy like it was his life. Everybody was like, 'Can I hold it? And my father was like, 'No!'" she added.
She also said in an interview in "Jane the Virgin" set that what had happened to her lately was incredible and surreal. "But I can tell you that I was thinking, 'Whatever God's plan, I want it. Have patience and faith, all will be well."
During her acceptance speech, everybody got their selves emotional. Andrea Navedo, who is playing Jane's mom Xiomara in the series, choked up talking when she heard Rodriguez's speech.
"I've seen how hard she works. She inspires me ...I want to be like her when I grow up! And I just felt like she just really deserved to be recognized. I'm so proud of her. I can't believe I'm crying," Navedo said.
However, Rodriguez also acknowledges that without her co-stars and the series executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman, she will not be able to make it and win an award in a prestigious award-giving body. She's also hopeful of the series' continuous success and be able to attract more and more viewers so the casts and the crew will be able to work hard in entertaining people by making people laugh and cry.
Meanwhile, the executive producer gave a teaser to the viewers about the twists of the series' plot (Just Jared). Urman detailed that Jane will not be having sex until she gets married. This is an important thing in the story as planned.
Yet, the viewers are assured that the fun with Jane (Gina Rodriguez) and Ralph (Justin Baldoni) will not end until the baby arrives.
"There's another earthquake coming when the kid comes. To me, it's going to give us a whole bunch of drama," Urman cited.
The executive producer also explained, "They started this relationship in such a backward way, having a baby and then getting to know each other, so I'm looking for more real issues to challenge them. At the same time, there's always going to be those other telenovela soapy elements that are external complications."
