"Kingdom Hearts 3" is one of the most highly anticipated games in the action role-playing adventure genre for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It's been almost 10 years since Square Enix and Disney Interactive Studios, the development companies behind the title, has released "Kingdom Hearts 2" for the PlayStation 2. As such, fans have been in frenzy when news about "Kingdom Hearts 3" broke out.
Tai Yasue has disclosed some important things in the current state of "Kingdom Hearts 3" according to PC Advisor. In their report, Yasue said that "We were actually developing Kingdom Hearts III and 2.5 at the same time, and it's very difficult. There was a point where we wanted to switch our resources to Kingdom Hearts III and get that moving faster."
However even though they are multitasking right now, he made an assurance that "Kingdom Hearts 3" is happening, saying that "We've been working full throttle on Kingdom Hearts III. It's moving along. We structured our team in a way that development of 2.5 doesn't impede Kingdom Hearts III. I'm actually every excited about Kingdom Hearts III."
The game director also revealed that they are planning a new path for "Kingdom Hearts 3" based on the report of Latinos Post. However, even though the game is being redesigned, the development team still wants to maintain the key ingredient on why Kingdom Hearts games have been well received by the gaming community. According to Yasue, "For 3, we want to evolve it in a new direction, but at the same time we don't want to change what is fundamental about 'Kingdom Hearts.' We're hiring new people continuously, so they are learning about 'Kingdom Hearts' through making 2.5. It's a good learning experience."
According to TechnoBuffalo, the "Kingdom Hearts 3" development team are having a hard time in sticking to the original art-design for Disney's character. However they are dedicating a lot of time in order to remain true to the visual appeal of the original art-design.
Tai Yasue even added that "There's a lot to get used to working with the Disney content," and he further explained that "You have to have a lot of dedication and respect for their visual IPs for example, and when you play Kingdom Hearts 2you see that: when you summon a character or use a spell there's a lot of love and care that goes into the presentation. When you see Stitch coming out of the screen, for example, it's very true to the original movie. That dedication is something you learn through the process or remaking 2.
He then compared the same with Square Enix saying that "if someone else was making a Final Fantasy or a Dragon Quest, we'd be very protective of that too. So we really understand the importance of not changing the brand and respecting the fans." That is why "We always strive to make original content, but with Kingdom Hearts you have to really respect the source material, and that's something people really like about the series.
"Kingdom Hearts 3" is now available for preorder at Amazon for $59.99. The online retail store has listed the game for a December 31, 2015 release. However Square Enix and Disney have yet to make an official announcement. Stay tuned for more updates!
