"Iron Man 4" may be years away before its production began. However there are recent rumors that Robert Downey, Jr. will not be reprising his role as Tony Stark in the upcoming film.

Cinema Blend reported that Robert Downey, Jr. has been one of the main reasons why film adaptation of Marvel Superheroes in the big screen has been a huge success. The main star of the Iron Man film franchise has contributed a lot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and he has a good presence in the negotiating table. In fact, he will appear in two non-Iron Man films which include the upcoming "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Captain America: Civil War". He may also appear in the "Avengers: Infinity Wars" parts 1 and 2.

According to the report, Robert Downey Jr. voiced out his opinion on the possible future of Iron Man films and his involvement with "Captain America: Civil War". Downey said that he was happy to be helpful with Marvel and their future projects and he also mentioned his perspective in being involved with prospective projects down the line, he said that "At this point it's about helping each other, too. I look at it as a competition, and I go, 'Wow, maybe if these two franchises teamed up and I can take even a lesser position, with people I like and directors I respect, maybe we can keep things bumping along.'"

This leads to the rumors that Robert Downey, Jr. may increase his bargaining power with Marvel which may lead to him demanding more for the upcoming Iron Man 4. His involvement and success in the Iron Man film franchise, Avengers film and "Captain America: Civil War" has been one of the main reason why his value has increased considerably in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Robert Downey, Jr. may demand a percentage of income of the upcoming "Iron Man 4" movie rather than a fixed amount according to CrossMap. They also mentioned that Downey's involvement with the upcoming "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Captain America: Civil War" might be his graceful exit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel's way of thanking him.

There were speculations that a new actor must appear as Tony Stark if Robert Downey, Jr. won't be able to don Iron Man's suit in the upcoming movie. There were speculations, according to Master Herald, that Ty Simpkins, the one who played Harley Keener in "Iron Man 3", will be the one who will suit up as Iron Man. If "Iron Man 4" is to be released after the Avengers films and Captain America, Simpkins will be old enough to be Iron Man by the time they start filming.

"Iron Man 4" may take a long time before it hits the theaters. However, fans of the billionaire playboy may still see him in action sooner than they might expect once the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" hits the theaters this May 1.
