Eager to kill some zombies? Well, there's about 100,000 games where you can. Go play one of those. But if you're eager to kill some zombies... on an island? Well, that's an entirely different story- and your best bet is probably waiting around until the release of "Dead Island 2."
While neither developer Yager nor published Deep Silver have announced when "Dead Island 2" will release (so far, all we have is a vague Q2 2015 release date), they have announced that the game will first be playable as a beta.
According to Latino Post, the beta will be available on all the same platforms that the final game will be- Xbox One, PC and Playstation 4- but for the first 30 days of the beta, "Dead Island 2" will only be available on PS4. After those 30 days are up, Xbox and PC users can finally get in on the zombie-slaying action.
If you want to play the beta, however, it'll come at a price. KpopStarz reports that to get access to the "Dead Island 2" beta, you'll need to have pre-ordered the upcoming game's spinoff title, known as "Escape Dead Island." Everyone who's preordered "Escape Dead Island" will get a code for the beta when it becomes available. But because "Escape Dead Island" has already been released, it's not possible to pre-order it anymore.
And considering that "Escape Dead Island" got absolutely abysmal reviews, having to buy it to get the beta is a steep price.
Playstation LifeStyle recently spoke to Jan Eric Lauble, Creative Producer for Deep Silver, who discussed how "Dead Island 2" will differ from the first game.
"The updated combat system offers way more control and possibilities and the weapon categories offer more variety through different attack types. And new additional features such as the dual wield system provide creative new ways for the player to slaughter zombies."
Like we said, there are tons of zombie games out there. But for fans of "Dead Island," this is big stuff- keep an eye out for whenever Deep Silver announces the dates for both the game and the beta.
