Fans of long-time racing game series, NASCAR, will be delighted to know that Eutechnyx will go ahead with the NASCAR 15 release date this coming spring.
Eutechnyx, which owned the racing game license since 2014, will push through with the release of a season update to NASCAR 14 dubbed as NASCAR 15 despite the announcement of acquisition of the franchise by DMi Games.
It's made clear, though, that NASCAR 15 is not a new main title but a season update to previous year's edition which will arrive to three platforms, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. .
DMi Games is reported to have already acquired the official license for NASCAR's video games alongside other entertainment media properties. This news was confirmed on January 17 via DMi's official website.
"As of January 1, 2015, DMi became NASCAR's license for video games. It is a deal that has been in the works for several months," Ed Martin, the top executive of DMi, Inc. wrote.
Martin further stated that thanks to the long-term license, the company can now create and release games across Xbox One, PS4 consoles, PC and mobiles including other platforms of sorts.
In addition, he also spoke of great news that the many seasoned racing fans around the world can expect a brand new NASCAR title that sees a 2016 release date.
"We are already hard at work on several new games including an all-new NASCAR racing sim created by DMi for PS4, Xbox One, and PC that we expect to release in 2016," Martin revealed.
This move is seen to be bringing something good for the game series as North Carolina is the home of NASCAR's main headquarters.
NASCAR racing games were first created from between 1990s and early 200s by EA Sports and Papyrus before the franchise became exclusive to EA sports 2003. In 2008, Eutechnyx and Activision took over until 2014.
NASCAR 14 was the last game developed by Eutechnyx published by Deep Silver last year.
NASCAR 15 release date is expected this spring while NASCAR 16 release date from DMi is set in 2016.
