As the Feb. 19 deadline would be nearing to a close, names and negotiations made on the table have been spreading over the Web. Some of them veterans while others were performers from the previous season that could take a pivotal role in the championships after making a decisive switch for next season.
Names of possible free agents have been floating around the Web with NBA fans picking the pieces of juicy information to make up a picture of team line-ups for the next season. Veteran Tayshaun Prince might stay with the Boston Celtics if a he and the Celtics agreed on the buyout of his final year contract. On the other hand, the 22-year old Tobias Harris might make a move to the New York Knicks, if Orlando Magic has nothing to match what the Knicks might be offering Harris.
The 25-year old Jimmy Butler would also be in for some sweet deals as two titans would be willing to bankroll on his talents. The Los Angeles Lakes had been eyeing the shooting and with the clock ticking, now would be the best time to lay down their cards good before Butler's team, the Chicago Bulls, pull out their aces.
Apart from the current roster of players, a couple of teams are looking outside the country for prime talent. Will Bynum, who's current playing in China, had been under the gaze of both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Washington Wizards.
However, the free agency system would not always end up with players leaving their teams and calling it quits. The rules for restricted free agent would actually protect the players' current teams by allowing the teams to match or surpass the offer given to their players. On the other hand, the rules for the unrestricted free agent would in fact guarantee the player the privilege to sign a new contract with their current team, which could lead to a relatively better offer than what was signed before.
