'Resident Evil HD' Changes Unveil Voice Acting, Other Game Features to be Modified; Door-Opening Sequences to be Removed

By

Resident Evil HD is out, and gamers can reminisce the adventure once more as they explore corridors, unveil a few secrets, and avoid being bitten by infected creatures. While the original Resident Evil game is known for making the survival-horror genre mainstream during the mid-'90s, some gamerswould remember this game for its good combination of epic suspense and jump-scare cutscenes that would immediately put players into action mode once danger appears from a general direction.

Now, as the remastered HD version of the first RE game comes with a better gameplay and improved graphics, fans of the franchise find the voice acting hilarious if not disturbing since the lines seem to be out of expression, or under delivered so to speak.

Over the weekend, a Resident Evil modding forum participant with the pseudonym of "Bunny" announced that he's currently working on a game mod where all the new voiceovers would be replaced with the ones from the original. He said that he has already finished redoing the voiceovers of the first five rooms and would try to change everything if possible. Since there are scenes in Resident Evil HD that are not in the original game, Bunny may not be able to replace the newer voice acting for the mod.

Aside from the voice acting, another seemingly unnecessary feature that some modders are changing was the door opening sequences that are being shown while moving from one room to another. They say that they want to set the game to a faster pace by removing that feature, even though it was one of the trademarks of the original game.

Resident Evil HD Remastered is available on gaming shelves, and is playable on GameCube, Wii,
PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, as well as on Windows PC. The game is quite popular with a lot of gamers who may have missed out on the original back in 1997 or those who may have skipped out on the GameCube version in the early 2000s.
