Game developer CD Projekt Red announced its plans last year on releasing 16 expansion packs for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. However, instead of putting a price tag on the add-ons, the Polish game developing company doesn’t seem to be bothered giving them away for free. That’s right! Gamers can enjoy playing The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt expansion packages without having to worry of spending a cent on them.
According to CD Projekt Red co-founder and joint CEO Marcin Iwinski, the free expansion releases of the game is their token of their gratitude for those who have bought the game at its full retail price.
"We, as gamers, would like to be treated this way, 'Hey, give me free DLC.' It doesn't have to be something huge," Iwinski explained. "And I'm saying we aren't giving out huge stuff, we aren't giving tens of hours of storyline here; we are giving small bits of pieces that don't cost a lot. And I think people would feel better about our game, and so, they will enjoy the adventure even more."
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is considered CD Projekt Red’s one of the most successful games by far as it features a more polished and more gamer-friendly graphics compared to the first Witcher games. Those who have played the first two games of the franchise for at least a couple of times could soak in every detail of the storyline from the upcoming third installment, along with those from the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt expansion. As for those who are not yet familiar of the series, spoiler alert, but it’s basically the story of magically enhanced warriors (known as witchers) capable of decimating massive beasts more efficiently.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is scheduled to launch worldwide on May 19, 2015 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. There are rumors about releasing the game on Linux and Mac OX, but CD Projekt Red has not confirmed yet whether they will make this happen or not.
