"The Hunger Games" fans had been wondering what would be next for their favorite power couple after "The Hunger Games: The Mockingjay 2" would make it to the big screen. Well, producers of one of the most successful film adaptations of young adult fiction had been looking at squeezing more juice out of the Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) and Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) love story than what's already offered in "The Hunger Games" novels.
It had been a proven formula in Tinseltown for several movie adaptations of young adult fiction, which Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer wanted to test out. Feltheimer had already expressed interest in stretching the "Hunger Games" story and not limiting it to the current story line revolving around the power couple Peeta and Katniss, as well as around their friends and enemies; rather, the new plot would extend through out the other districts of Panem.
Feltheirmer also cited some of the successful titles that made extended stories and were able to cash in from them. However, he clarified that the proposed stories about the post-Capitol "Hunger Games" would still be within the bounds of the book's intellectual property.
Director Francis Lawrence also agreed on keeping within the bounds of the "Hunger Games" universe when a spin-off would be developed. Although Lawrence would not want to confirm any speculation about a spin-off, he said that any story development should be treated carefully because, to begin with, the world of Panem and it's characters are already "amazing."
On the other hand, avid fans certainly could not hide their anticipation for the upcoming Mockingjay Part2 as they've started taking their Peeta and Katniss wedding fantasies to Youtube.
However, they had to wait a little longer since "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2" would be in cinemas 'til Nov. 20 where Katniss, who had just taken the role of the "Mockingjay" for Panem's revolutionary forces against the Capitol.
