Kody Brown has divorced his only legal wife, Meri, to marry his fourth wife, Robyn. The move is being considered more of a legal move rather than a personal choice for the Brown patriarch.
According to Reality Tea, Kody may have switched legal wives, trading in Meri for Robyn, who has been touted as his favorite among his four wives. Kody and Meri have apparently ended their 20-year-marriage after a joint petition for divorce in September 2014. Not three months later, Robyn is reported to be the new Mrs. Brown.
Complete with documents, Starcasm reports the divorce being filed on September 25, 2014. According to the papers, Meri and Kody's joint petition was verified on September 12. A different document containing the seal of the Clark County Recorder's Office lists Kody marrying Robyn in December 11, 2014, with the marriage certificate recorded the day after. The document also lists an acknowledgment date of December 5.
Though the divorce may not be met by approving looks from everyone, it could be a logical solution for the polygamous family. Apparently, Kody may be looking to get better insurance for Robyn's three children from an earlier marriage.
David Jessop, Robyn's first husband, has been a subject of the new Mrs. Brown's complaints because he "stole her purity pre-marriage." Robyn has a son with Jessop, Dayton, who has been in a serious ATV accident three years ago. Dayton has also been diagnosed to have Asperger's syndrome. Meanwhile, Meri's daughter, Mariah, is now off to college.
Moreover, it is also being reported as possibly being a legal move, since "it is still illegal to officially be married to more than one person." The marriage would put to rest any legal stipulations from Robyn's first marriage about living with an unmarried person.
While rumors about the divorce and remarriage swirl around, the latest episode of "Sister Wives" shows the Brown wives all present to show fans around in their new Las Vegas home.
To add to the tension in the household, IB Times also shares that even Christine has been having a fight with her husband, and that the fights are far from over.
