Last week, fans of the long time running CBS drama series, Criminal Minds, now on its season 10, were terribly shocked to see how the BAU had to handle an old colleague's case, and death of Gideon that really affected some of the team members. .
In a reported interview with the show's executive producer and showrunner, Erica Messer discussed the circumstances that led to the decision that Gideon will be killed off in the storyline after Mandy Patinkin quit his role as Jason Gideon for some complicated reasons in 2007.
"We don't kill off our heroes very often," Messer said. However, the show felt the need to provide a flashback that basically showed Gideon's entire career as an FBI agent. This subsequently led to exposing parts of his life as an investigator that gradually molded his character."
"What I really want to drive us back into the past is the death of Gideon," she reportedly explained to CBS and ABC bosses regarding the need to delve into the depths of Gideon's death.
Messer also talked about how the loss of the BAU's former leader affects the team especially Reid.
"There will be a sadness there that plays into the next episode a little bit, but it's his [Reid] version of dealing with it," she hinted.
Meanwhile, despite that BAU team is surrounded by such grief, spoilers tease another intense packed action filled drama in Criminal Minds season 10 all-new episode 15 titled, 'Scream'.
The team will hunt down an UnSub who likes to record the screams of his victims.The official synopsis for the forthcoming episode reads, "Victims in California are going to have the BAU searching for an UnSub who may have witnessed abuse as a child."
On things outside of work, Kate will be playing parent to her niece Meg when she goes on a date with a friend to eyeball a guy they only met online.
