Forget all about Channing Tatum in "Jupiter Ascending"- the elf ears, the werewolf powers and his super-scientific hoverboots. Tatum's got a new movie that promises to obliterate all those bad memories, and make audiences go absolutely insane. That movie? "Magic Mike XXL."
The trailer for the "Magic Mike" sequel just dropped on Youtube, and it's taking the Internet by storm- already racking up more than five million hits, and rave reviews from writers across the Internet.
The trailer opens with Tatum, dressed in welding gear and doing a little metalworking (the pun possibilities are endless- "grinding" on some metal..." "making sparks fly..."). Then, Tatum ditches the welding mask to show off his dance moves. Eventually, the trailer moves into a montage (set to Ginuwine's "Pony") of all the major characters (Tatum, Joe Manganiello, no Matthew McConaughey sadly- he dropped out of the sequel) doing things of a sexy, male stripper nature.
Watch for Maganiello and a bottle of shaken-up soda. It gets pretty graphic.
According to Myrtle Beach Online, "Magic Mike XXL" spent a good chunk of time filming at Myrtle Beach- stars Tatum and Matt Bomer were shot on a beach and also in a snazzy Rolls Royce. Many of those scenes are featured prominently in the trailer- and the film is rumored to be a road trip movie that may take the "Magic Mike" boys to the beach.
"Magic Mike XXL" will hit theaters on July 1, 2015, and will not be directed by Steven Soderbergh (who directed the original "Magic Mike")- instead, the film will be directed by Gregory Jacobs, with Soderbergh still sticking around to be the film's cinematographer. Tatum co-wrote the script as well. And along with returning stars like Tatum, Manganiello and Bomer, new stars like Jada Pinkett-Smith and Donald Glover will be joining the cast.
Alright, enough talk. Check out the "Magic MIke XXL" trailer below.
