Apple iPhone 5c vs. Nokia Lumia 830: Key Strengths, Pros and Cons, and Other Features - Who Wins on Battle of Flagship Devices?

By

Both carry some of the best features of each brand's flagship handsets, but little compromises here and there are to be expected. The iPhone 5c can display bright and stunning vivid images just like it's more high-end counterpart the 5S with its 1136x640 resolution.

On the other hand, the Lumia 830 has the same 5-inch screen as that of the Lumia 930. It also retains features like wireless charging, dedicated camera button, and removable rear cover. NFC is included as well, making the Lumia 830 a well-featured phone.

Interesting camera features are keys to the appeal of both devices. The Lumia 830 has a 10 megapixel camera and comes with built-in Optical Image Stabilisation. OIS reduces camera shake and helps produce clearer and brighter photos when capturing from low-light places. OIS can't be found in very high-end smartphones, except in iPhone 6 Plus and another new iPhone handset.

The iPhone 5c retains the 8-megapixel rear camera from the 4S, but it comes with improved aperture and a dynamic sensor for better low-light photography. Its camera lens has been enhanced with an f/2.4 aperture and a new sensor that helps the camera detects low light.

In terms of appearance, both the iPhone 5C and Nokia Lumia 830 come in a range of eye candy colors. The iPhone 5c is available in five color options: white, pink, yellow, green, and blue, while the Nokia Lumia 830 comes in green, black, white, and orange.

Also, both devices take it forms from its predecessors with the Apple phone having curve edges and the Nokia phone having slightly rounded edges. The size of the Lumia 830 is bigger than that of iPhone 5c and so is its display screen. Nokia has a 5-inch screen, and measures 5.49x2.78x0.33 inches, while iPhone has a 4-inches Retina display and measures 4.87x 2.31x 0.30 inches.

The Nokia phone runs on Windows phone 8.1 and has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chips, whereas Apple's iPhone phone runs on iOS 7 and powered with A6 chip. The 2012 iPhone 5c has 16GB storage capacity, but it is downgraded to 8GB for the 2014 iPhone 5c.

Making the Nokia Lumia 830 and the Apple iPhone 5c colorful helps sell to a specific group of market, particularly the younger generation. This works both to the brand's favor as each intends to attract the group of smartphone users that want a taste of flagship smartphones but can't afford one, such as iPhone 6, Lumia 930, and Galaxy S5.
