Just recently, a new Miss Universe has been crowned. Paulina Vega, Colombia's representative and a business student, was able to bag the title. After making headlines about her controversial win, she is back in the news as she was invited by Colombian rebels to attend the peace talks.
According to source, Vega shared in some interviews that she would attend the peace talks if given a chance. Now that the invitation is in, will she be able to do what she has claimed before? In FARC's website, they have already verified that they gave the new Miss Universe an invitation to go to Cuba. Apparently, the rebels were able to read the interviews where Vega shared her interest to travel if it means obtaining peace.
FARC was born in 1964. Their operations are funded by several illegal doings like extortion, kidnapping and drug trafficking among many others. Hopefully, if Vega will join the peace talks, she will be able to neutralize the wrath. That would be a milestone for her.
Based from one report, it was not revealed how the beauty queen can help in the negotiations. The peace talks between the government and FARC started in 2012.
Even if Vega has won the title of Miss Universe, there were a lot of controversies that came with it. If you must remember, people were eyeing for Miss Jamaica to win. When Miss Jamaica ended as the fourth runner up, it was reported that boos were heard from the crowd. If Miss Colombia will be able to contribute substantial ideals in the peace talks, then perhaps she can also win the hearts of those people who didn't believe that she deserves the crown.
The beauty queen is yet to provide her response if she will come face to face with the rebels. We will definitely be on the lookout for updates if Miss Colombia will visit Cuba to meet the members of FARC.
