Spider-Man will finally have his new solo adventure in the big screen set on July 28, 2017 following an announcement from Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios yesterday. The companies said they have already sealed a deal for the much-anitipated film franchise but rumors says Andrew Garfield is now out.
In a report from Marvel's website, Spider-Man is set to join first other fictional Marvel superheroes in a film franchise of still untitled Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film before venturing into the said Spider-Man franchise.
Reports have it that the team behind the upcoming science-fiction film might explore opportunities like putting other characters from the cinematic universe into the film. Although it remains unconfirmed, Spidey is expected to make his appearance in Captain America: Civil War.
Co-producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal will collaborate on this new creative pursuit for the web slinger.
Marvel stated in its website: "With this deal, fans will be able to experience Spider-Man taking his rightful place among other Super Heroes in the MCU."
The Walt Disney Company chairman and CEO Bob Iger said: "We're thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building."
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige expressed his joy working with Sony and Pascal for the flick.
"I am thrilled to team with my friends at Sony Pictures along with Amy Pascal to produce the next Spider-Man movie. Amy has been deeply involved in the realization on film of one of the world's most beloved characters. I am equally excited for the opportunity to have Spider-Man appear in the MCU, something which both we at Marvel, and fans alike, have been looking forward to for years."
Meanwhile, The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield is in the talks of not returning to the film but nothing official has been announced for now.
According to Sony Pictures, Spider-Man is the most successful franchise in their history with the five installments grossed more than $4 billion in global box-office.
