Andrew Garfield Out in New 'Spider-Man' Film; Peter Parker in the Running Include Josh Hutcherson, Taylor Lautner, Logan Lerman, Luke Evans and Jake Gyllenhaal

Andrew Garfield is no longer taking on the role of Spider-Man as the film franchise hits the big screen in 2017, reports said.

Although there have been no official press statement from Sony and Marvel yet, a report from Independent suggests that producers of film is dropping Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

Linda Ge of the reliable movie magazine The Wrap took to Twitter announcing it is the end for the 31-year-old British actor's portrayal for the spandex-wearing superhero.

The post read: "CONFIRMED: Andrew Garfield is NO LONGER Spider-Man. Someone new will be cast. First appearance in MCU, then solo film."

According to an analysis report of Glamour Magazine, the Sony-Marvel deal comes after The Amazing Spider-Man, where Garfield starred, underperformed at the box office in 2013. Despite a bankable $709 million box office revenue, The Amazing Spider-Man is the lowest-earning among Sony's five Spider-Man films in history.

Garfield has not responded to reports yet.

Before Spider-Man stands alone in a film, Marvel has reported that the superhero will appear first in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film. A photo from the site suggests Spider-Man might be seen in other comic flicks like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor or X-Men. Although it remains unconfirmed, Spider-Man is expected to make his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Captain America: Civil War which will hit theaters in 2016.

Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company said: "Spider-Man is one of Marvel's great characters, beloved around the world."

"We're thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building."

Meanwhile, Variety reported Marvel president and producer Kevin Feige wants the character of Peter Parker to be a high school student again.

Young actors making round on the web to be replacing Garfield include Logan Lerman, 23 (Perks of Being a Wall Flower), Taylor Lautner, 22 (Twilight), Douglas Booth, 22 (Riot Club), Jack O'Connell, 24 (300: Rise of an Empire), Alfred Enoch, 26 (Harry Potter), Thomas Brodie-Sangster, 24 (Game of Thrones, Miles Teller, 27 (Fantastic Four) and Josh Hutcherson, 22 (Hunger Games).

Actors in their thirties are also pinch hitters for the superhero role like Donald Glover, 31, (30 Rock), Joseph Gordon-Levitt, 33 (The Dark Night Rises), Luke Evans, 35 (Dracula Untold) and Jake Gyllenhaal, 34 (Nightcrawler).
