The most expensive boxing match of Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is rumored to set by May 2 worth an estimate $250 million. Two iconic boxing champions agreed to stage a long-awaited boxing match worth last Saturday. Pacquiao already signed the deal, however, Mayweather, not yet.
According to International Business Times, an insider who is close to the 36-year-old Filipino boxing champ revealed that Pacquiao already agreed to the terms of the deal and signed the contract. On the other hand, Mayweather is yet to sign and to agree to the agreement stated in the deal since he is still in New York.
As mentioned by The Telegraph, Mayweather bought hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry. Plus, it is also believed that he might be signing it by Sunday and might announce the fight during NBA All-Star Game at New York City's Madison Square Garden.
Pacquiao said, "Manny has 100 percent signed his side of the deal ... it is now over to Mayweather to close the deal and announce the fight." He himself revealed that the fight is official last Friday and started his training in General Santos City, Philippines for it.
Reported by The Guardian, the exact amount Mayweather spent for the jewelries was more than $800,000 just for himself including his entourage. While spending time with his basketball buddies in New York and a day before that, in the Caribbean and Miami partying, still, the Pacquiao team [as well as the fans] are waiting for the fight to be officially announced by the American boxing champion.
"The ball in in his court," Pacquiao told the local fight writers about the progress of the fight decisions while at his mountain training camp north in Manila.
Fans around the globe have been waiting for this "superfight" since 2009. Though doubts from the community that this fight will happen were clearly observable, the talks intensified when Pacquiao and Mayweather met the first time last January 27 during the NBA's game between Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks. Afterwards, the two met face-to-face more than an hour.
According to International Business Times, the two just discussed the potential bout's terms face-to-face. Moreover, Michael Koncz testified that they merely discussed more like a business meeting. Koncz said, "It was a business meeting, but it wasn't a tense business meeting. I think that's because they both have mutual respect for each other. We'll determine what will happen over the next couple of days."
Reportedly, Mayweather will have 60-40 split of the fight purse where the two sides have also agreed on the pre-and-post drug tests including the gloves that they will use during the fight.
Previously, it was also mentioned that Mayweather had conditions which listed the drug testing like the usual Olympic-standard drug tests, the bigger slice of the cash, and a separation of promotional campaigns so he can retain editorial control to his Showtime documentary that lead Pacquiao's people to discuss matters with the HBO co-broadcasters. Yet, Mayweather remained to lead the dance and let everyone wait for his final decision.
Pacquiao insider told the Observer last Saturday night, "Until Mr. Mayweather formally agrees to fight Manny, all the stories, negotiations and good intentions mean nothing."
Telegraph also cited Mayweather's risk in this fight. Mayweather who had been unbeaten in 47 fights with 26 knockouts is his loss of his status as an unbeaten fighter.
The same site source also mentioned that the said fight will be scheduled by May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. That is, if Mayweather had already signed and sealed the deal to finally fight the Filipino boxing champion, Pacquiao.
