LG Nexus 5 is possibly the next top smartphone brand to officially receive the latest Android 5.1 update first as it is now spotted on processor benchmark Geekbench in test.
Although it has not been made available yet, tech titan Google chose LG-made Nexus 5 as testing device for Android 5.1 software update. It is not surprising, though because Nexus line usually get new Android versions first.
Google already ran Android 5.1 Lollipop on its budget Android One devices in Indonesia and the Philippines while Prime Labs conducted the Geekbench test.
Techstatic (via Google Translate) reports the latest Android 5.1 update brings loads on minor tweaks and enhancements from the previous Android 5.0. Features include quick settings menu with quick swith options for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles.
Google reintroduces silent mode after being dropped from Android 5.0 in exchange of priority mode, which allows users to choose alerts they want to be notified with.
With the Android 5.1 release, the issue on muting of all alarms is fixed in the since the silent mode is being disabled.
Notable features of Android 5.1 include:

- Better random access memory (RAM)
- Various bug fixes
- Optimized performance
- Enhanced system stability
On top of that, according to a report, the post Android 5.0 Lollipop-Android 5.1-can resolve issues on battery life. When Android 5.0 was available for Nexus, LG had been bombarded with user complaint regarding the subject.
In the same report, Android 5.1 reduces talk time performance to 10 hours, while playback test costs 6 hours.
Google has not announced the official release of the Android 5.1 yet since it is still in test but reports put it that it might be made available in three weeks along with Nexus smartphones and tablets debut.
Despite the move from 5.0 to 5.1, Android Lollipop expect to change in the name build. Google went from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
