Passion Pit's forthcoming new album 'Kindred' is set to release on April 21 through Columbia records, following their critically acclaimed album 'Gossamer' last 2012. Two of the 10 tracks has also been released.
According to Pitchfork, Passion Pit has announced their upcoming album titled 'Kindred', after the synthpop indie band hasn't put out an album since 2012's "Gossamer."
Last Monday (Jan. 16), Passion Pit premieres one of the 10 tracks on the album titled 'Lifted Up (1985)'. According to Music Times, "Lifted Up (1985) moves away from some of the chaotic, loud electro indie pop that Passion Pit explored on its 2012 record Gossamer. Though the pep and hopefulness of Passion Pit remains, "Lifted Up (1985)" is a bit more subdued, particularly in the verses, wherein singer Michael Angelakos nearly whispers. The song really comes to life in the chorus, when Angelakos reaches into the higher part of his register and the music matches his energy and happy energy with explosive music."
The next day, Passion Pit just released a new single titled "Where the Sky Hangs." According to Music Mic, "It has all the life-affirming melodic and lyrical simplicity we've come to expect from the band, along with a few new sonic twists. And it's the second amazing single they've released since Monday."
'Lifted Up (1985)' and 'Where the Sky Hangs' are just two of the 10 tracks on Kindred. The album also includes tracks such as "My Brother Taught Me How to Swim," and "Looks Like Rain."
