Over the weekend, director Zack Snyder set the movie world on fire with the first ever pic of Jason Momoa as Aquaman- just one of the many superheroes crammed into the cast of his 2016 film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
In the pic (seen via Synder's Twitter page), Momoa bears long hair and a long beard (both seem to have considerable amounts of grey in them) and has large portions of his body covered in both fish scale-patterned armor and fish scale-patterned tattoos. And of course, there's the trident- a staple of any Aquaman incarnation. It's quickly put to rest the idea of Aquaman as a goofy, comic relief character- the hero has long struggled to break free from an image of being a superhero laughingstock, and only useful whenever bad guys wander too close to the water (if bank robbers stay on land, they'll remain peacefully Aquaman-free).
But Momoa's looking pretty hardcore with that trident, so being a laughingstock shouldn't be an issue.
There's also been talk of one of the film's biggest battle scenes recently. Apparently, the fight will be between Batman and Superman (with the title "Batman v Superman," they'd have to fight sometime, right?) and will, according to Ecumenical News, be "one of the most important sequences in the movie."
Most importantly, Snyder and his creative team have come up with a reason why Superman wouldn't win in seconds (being a Kryptonian, he's several thousand times stronger than the Caped Crusader). It hasn't been revealed just what that reason is- maybe Batman has a suit of power armor, or maybe he's got some kind of Kryptonite advantage. Both have been used in the comics before.
It's been revealed by Inquisitr that the film is in post-production- everyone's done filming, and now it's time to edit the film and add in the many, many spectacular special effects. That means a lot for "Batman v Superman"- but most importantly, it may mean that we're getting a trailer for the upcoming superhero film sooner rather than later. Keep your fingers crossed on that one.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens on March 25, 2016, and stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Aquaman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.
