The tasty new Operating System Android 5.0 Lollipop took the Android community by storm with its new features. However, nothing is truly white and there are shades of gray found in the Lollipop Updates.
Recent feedbacks from users would state that the recent OS carry with it some problems. Every Operating System update, aside from fixing old bugs, bring new bug with them too. LG G3 users, subject to mandatory updates, for example would encounter bugs that redesign the lock screens and notifications center pull down feature. This would bring data loss to the users.
HTC One M8 owners also experience bugs that affect their keyboards and freeze or close apps without any warnings. The same bug also causes Nexus 5 to deplete its battery. Some Samsung Galaxy S5 users are also complaining that the battery goes down quickly to 95% just seconds after unplugging from the power source.
But not all Android users experience these problems. So there is no need to give a general conclusion to Lollipop. However, there are simple battery saving tips that one could apply in case you are having problems with battery life.
1. Turn-off your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not in use. These two features eat up a lot of your phone's battery.
2. Minimizes the brightness and decrease the screen time-out. The less light coming from your screen, the more power you save.
3. Close running apps that are unnecessary. Check the running apps menu of your smart phone and turn them off.
4. Activate your power-save mode. Most smart phones have this kind of feature so use it. Samsung S5 could save 10% battery life through using the power-save.
5. Deactivate your vibrate mode. Vibrate mode uses a lot of power and could cause overheating.
6. Be prepared. Carry a spare battery or better yet, purchase a power bank in case of emergencies.
Google is working on fixing these bugs and even released the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update to address other bug issues. Currently, Google is working on the Android 5.1 Lollipop update which is said to solve battery life issues.
