Sherlock and Watson are back in the mystery solving game, and it is shaping up to be an exciting season, indeed. Fans of the show can only speculate what adventures the detective from Baker Street and his assistant will be having next.
Martin Freeman, who plays John Watson in the show revealed that 'Sherlock' will be back for a one-episode special before season four kicks off. The star of 'The Hobbit' also admitted that the 'Sherlock' special won't be premiering until Christmas 2015.
"If that's going to be a special - I'm speaking off-message here; if this was New Labour I'd get fired - I think that might be for next Christmas. A Christmas special. That's what I understand," Freeman said.
Fans of the show have speculations as to what the Christmas special will be all about, but it will most likely wrap up the Moriarty story arch. It was briefly introduced within the last few minutes of season 3. Holmes, who was being led away, was brought back when Moriarty had supposedly hacked all digital systems.
Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the titular character in the show has also revealed some snippets on Moriarty's fate in an interview. "I casually choose to forget in order to rediscover it again a little bit," he said in an interview with MTV. "I like casually forgetting, not least because there's a lot of other traffic between then and now but also because it's more fun because it's slightly more fresh. It's a very good idea, I do remember that detail. I'm just trying not to remember it so I don't blurt it out."
Show creator Steven Moffat has also revealed that the new season will be "devastating". Does this mean more character deaths? "We have a plan to top it. And I do think our plan is devastating. We've practically reduced our cast to tears telling them the plan ... we're probably more excited that we've ever been about Sherlock." Moffat said.A major character death would indeed be devastating, does this mean Mary Watson or Mrs. Hudson would be killed off?
Will there be love for Sherlock in the upcoming seasons? Fans went wild when Molly kissed Sherlock during the fantasy sequence in season 3. "It went completely crackers when the show came out," actress Louise Brealey said. "I got 7,000 Twitter followers within five minutes of that kiss airing. It had doubled by the time the episode ended."
Filming for the 'Sherlock' Christmas Special already started. Season 4 will most likely be aired in early 2016 after the one-episode special.
