Author George RR Martin warns Game of Thrones fans to expect dark days ahead as Season 5 gets set for airing this April. He told followers of what is arguablly the hottest TV show today to brace themselves for the death of certain characters, who did not die in his novels. He, however, did not elaborate which characters will be bidding viewers adieu this season.
Martin told Showbiz 411 that David Benioff and DB Weiss, co-creators of the TV series, are even “bloodier than I am.” He was clearly referring to their predisposition to kill-off more characters than called for in the printed version. Game of Thrones, the TV series, is largely based on Martin’s epic fantasy novels “Song of Ice and Fire.” However, in the show’s 5th season, audiences will apparently see a notable deviation from the books.
HBO is set to commence airing Game of Thrones 5 on April 12. The latest season is reportedly based largely on Martin’s 4th and 5th Song of Ice and Fire novels. It will have 10 epsiodes in all.
Filming for Season 5 took place in some undeniably scenic locations in Croatia and Spain. These locations included Dubrovnik, Split and Zrnovnica in Croatia as well as Andalusia, Cordoba and Seville in Spain.
Production of Season 5 reportedly became a bit of a diplomatic event for the United States and Spanish governments. US ambassador to Madrid James Costos last June personally broke the news at an international economic forum, that Spain would be playing host to the Game of Thrones cast and crew.
An official HBO promo video on You Tube shows the drums of war beating as rival armies apparently get set for what could be a decisive showdown. At the start of the 2-minute teaser, we hear Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) uttering the words, “nothing is more hateful than failing to protect the ones we love.”
