'Avengers: Age of Ultron' News: Official Poster Released, New Heroes Expected to Augment Marvel’s Super Team

By

At first glance there seem to be no surprises in the just-released Avengers 2 poster, which prominently shows the seven original members of Marvel’s dream team. A closer look, however, will reveal three other super-powered characters, anyone of whom can end up on either side of the fray in the Age of Ultron.

Prominently shown in all their mankind-saving glory are Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), The Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawk Eye (Jeremy Renner) and Col. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). Still, all eyes seem to be trained on that caped figure floating above them that is not quite as easy to make out. Business Insider seems quite certain that the character partially obscured by mist is none other than the heroic android, Vision (Paul Bettany).

Two other super folks in the poster are mutant siblings Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quick Silver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). However, plot leakages have it that the two will be playing on the side of the evil robot Ultron (voiced by James Spader), at least on Avengers 2. Wanda and Peter Maximoff are also known by comic book fans to fight on the side of good and justice.

Screen Rant also tells us that the much-anticipated film will also see the cinematic return of some super-powered sidekicks! They include Tony Stark’s old buddy “Rhodey” Rhodes aka War Machine (Don Cheadle), Steve Roger’s new friend Sam Wilson aka Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Asgard’s gatekeeper Heimdall (Idris Elba).

Director Joss Whedon is at the helm of Disney’s latest and supposedly grandest superhero flick to date, which will revolve around the rampage of Ultron, who after becoming sentient takes it upon himself (or itself) to purge the Earth of some insignificant irritants—Humanity! Naturally, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will have none of that! Avengers 2 will reportedly lay the groundwork for a long list of superhero movies by Disney and Marvel at the heels of its May 1 premiere.
