What used to be a "mystery device" at first has now been revealed in public's eye. Sony showed off Xperia Z4 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 with a full-sized tablet, a fulfillment of the tech giant's promise of "slimmer, lighter and brighter" design.
Sony is taking a notch higher from last year as the firm finally reveals an ultra-thin Xperia Z4 with 6.1 millimeter in thickness at just 393 grams lighter for LTE models compared to Z2.
Sony boasts an Xperia Z4 tablet with a latest ultra-fast processor, lightweight premium body and a more efficient battery performance. The new device also sports a high-resolution 2K display (2048 x 1536 pixels). Sony powers Xperia Z4 by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.
With the major physical design upgrade, the device's design still looks similar from the previous' Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. Xperia Z4 possesses Quad HD screen, 3 GB RAM, and a 64-bit processor to take full advantage of the Android 5.0 Lollipop. Screen is also expected to be 10-inch in size, as Z3 Tablet Compact is 8-inch in size. The changes reportedly come from Sony's 12-month update cycle.
The latest tablet, with codename Ivy, will come out in dual SIM variant. Reportedly known as the PM-0851-BV, Z4's dual SIM capacity shows this is the only difference from its predecessor for now.
The device was first teased on the official Xperia Lounge application but was immediately pulled out from the site due to unknown reasons.
Sony employs Android 5.1 for Z4. Meanwhile, the clock app and the dialer is largely inspired by Google's Material Design UI.
The Japanese tech giant has taken the social media by storm recently in promoting Xperia Z3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update and Xperia Z4 is following the trail of the flagship device. With hashtags of SonyMWC, and Xperia, a tweet first revealed last week that Sony will officially debut its latest device on a lot at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015.
