The Cryptic Studios team would prepare an "in-game memorial" to honor the passing of veteran actor Leonard Nimoy who once became part of the original television series and film adaptation of "Star Trek." The 83-year old actor would be forever remembered as "Spock."
Cryptic Studios Executive Producer Steve Ricossa posted on the "Star Trek Online" forum the planned tribute for Leonard Nimoy who passed away on Feb. 27th. Ricossa said that the entire team was saddened and they wanted to make sure that gamers would "never forget the cultural impact of the man or the character Nimoy played." He added that they would "implement a standing in-game memorial for Spock and Leonard Nimoy."
The "in-game memorial" on "Star Trek Online" would be on March 5th, alongside the site's regular weekly maintenance. Meanwhile, fans of the online game, as well as the sci-fi franchise, offered their condolences to the actor who once breathe life to the half-man, half-Vulcan that imparted impartial unemotionally biased advice to Captain James Kirk.
Meanwhile, fans have also offered their respects to Leonard Nimoy and discussed the upcoming "in-game memorial" in other forums. The fans discussed the image that has been circulating over the Internet as what could be the design for the "in-game memorial." The image featured a fountain in Vulcan, "Spock's" home planet.
Other fans also recalled the instances when Nimoy or "Spock" made brief appearances (voice over) in "Star Trek" Online. The short discussions on the various forums reflected on the man and character many have fell in love with and would surely miss throughout the ages.
Leonard Nimoy once released an autobiography "I am not Spock," which differentiated the man from the myth. However, Nimoy cleared out that he loved playing the part of "Spock." In fact, he appeared in the two most recent "Star Trek" films.
