The 2015 MacBook Pro is one of the anticipated devices in Apple's lineup to be revealed on March 9 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona, Spain. More details for the Apple product are dished including the 5th generation Intel Core processor and MacBook Hinge.
The 5th generation Intel Core i7 processor known as Broadwell promises up to 90 minutes extra battery life in comparison to its fourth generation known as Haswell.
A UK-based website reported that the tech giant's latest development suggests that Apple will use the latest fanless chip 5th generation Intel Core processor codenamed Broadwell for their power-efficient 4.5W performance. Apple will be the third tech firm to use Broadwell processor as it is first used in Panasonic's Toughbook 54 laptop followed by Toshiba's Kira Ultrabook laptops.
Intel senior fellow Mark Bohr expressed that Broadwell chip aims to power up processing and graphics ability as it is designed for laptops, two-in-one and all-in-one Ultrabooks, Chromebooks as well as PCs. It will also support Intel's RealSense 3D technology, which allows laptops companies to created gesture control, 3D capture and editing capabilities.
Broadwell technology's release had been delayed for a couple of times due to manufacturing issues. Bohr illuminated the issues in his speech at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference in San Francisco, California last month: "I think we may have underestimated the learning rate - when you have a technology that adds many more masks, as 14 (nanometers) did...it takes longer to execute experiments in the fab and get information turned, as we describe it.
Bohr furthered: "That slowed us down more than we expected and thus it took longer to fix the yields. But we're into high yields now, and in production on more than one product, with many more to come later this year."
Meanwhile, a patent implies that Apple is brewing MacBook Hinge. Entitled "Hinged Portable Electronic Device with Display Circuitry Located in Base" with application number 20150049275, Apple describes it in its abstract that a rotating-capable housing and lid at the base will remove standard practices like coaxial cables and bulky hinge structures stressing the laptop's cables.
MacBook Pro 15-inch version is reported to have two variants-one with 2.2 GHz processor and a 256 GB flash storage is available for $1,999, and the other with 2.5 GHz processor with a 512 GB flash storage is available for $2,499.
Other Apple products expected come out on March 9 at the MWC 2015 are a 12-inch Retina MacBook Air, iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, iWatch, and iOS 9.
