Talk about the sexiest laptop of all time and HP Spectre x360 will come forward to take hold of the crown as the tech giant introduced its best and breakthrough laptop ever at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona, Spain. HP now joins the ever competitive laptop market with Apple's MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, and Dell's XPS 13.
HP Spectre x360 is considered the sexiest two-in-one Ultrabook convertible with its 0.62-inch slim body. The laptop sports a premium body with precision-machined aluminum frame and jewel-cut edges. Only the back-lit keyboard is made of plastic, whereas its extra wide trackpad is made of glass that allows multi-touch gestures.
The 13.3-inch hybrid laptop/tablet's IPS touchscreen resolution comes in two variants-full HD (1,920 x 1,080) and Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440). It can be folded in four modes-laptop, tablet, tent and stand mode. It runs with Windows 8.1 and the fifth generation Intel Core i5 processor known as Broadwell, 3 GB of RAM and 128 GB of SSD.
Meanwhile, HP has boosted its Wi-Fi reliability and port system. The left side Spectre x360 includes the AC adapter connection, the cooling fan exhaust vent, a USB 3.0 port, the power button, and a SDHC/SDXC card slot. The right side ports include a second Windows button (for use when the x360 is in tablet mode), a rocker-style volume button, mini DisplayPort, full-size HDMI out, two additional USB 3.0 ports and a headset audio jack.
The x360 managed a fairly consistent download speed that peaked at 53.0 Mbps and a reasonably stable upload speed that peaked at 5.8 Mbps with a ping response of 21 ms. In terms of power, battery life is up to 12.5 hours on a charge of average usage. A product review of Spectre x360 says that the Ultrabook is faster in speed compared to the same thin-and-light laptops in the market and is an efficient battery saver. However, its ClickPad has left-click/right-click problems and may not be enough to sway MacBook fans.
The bottom of the Spectre x360 features a large base plate that is secured by eight T5 Torx screws. Spectre x360 and some accessories are available from $899 to $999 at HP.com starting Sunday.
