Apple Pay more Vulnerable to Hacking than Samsung Pay?

By

Recently, there were reports saying that Apple Pay and Samsung Pay are vulnerable to identity theft scams since they are now considered the new targets of the scammers. Meanwhile, Google re-advised smartphones to install full encryption to ensure phone data security.

Google said that all devices with Lollipop pre-installed would have the encryption on "out of the box" last September. However, there are some smart phones which weren't able to match with he required Android compatibility, thus, making the phone more vulnerable to hacking since it's not automatically encrypted. Such phones include Samsung Galaxy S6 and Moto E. Apple (iOS 8), on the other hand, has had its fully-encrypted devices.

Reports said that Google advised all smart phones to have the ensured security to prevent vulnerability to hacking and any other kinds of intrusion. This advice was for those with Android Lollipop to have the full-encryption as a standard to disallow criminals, police, as well as the spy agencies for them not to have any unauthorized access to the phones' private data.

According to the same site source, Moto E and Samsung Galaxy S6 were reportedly no automatically encrypted. The reason behind this was the incompatibility of the devices to the required Android Compatibility Definition set by Google for a full-support of encryption that would "ideally should be out of the box, but it's not yet mandatory and is only expected to be so in 'future versions' of Android," mentioned by the site.

On the other side, Apple was said to have the most secured devices because even the spy or police agencies can't intrude. They cited that Apple together with Google will work together to improve the device security since there were previous reports about the external intrusion which were exposed by the former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden. He said that the NSA has their own set of methods and programs to gather personal data including all those people with no police records.

Meanwhile, though Apple is said to be the most secured, however, there were recent reports that pointed that even its Apple Pay service is now considered vulnerable to hacking. Yahoo Finance detailed that the thieves will just be using stolen ID and credit card information to buy products from Apple Pay. Nowadays, there is an increase with the number of incidents recorded where this particular crime happens in an Apple retail store. They added that the reason behind this is because the retailer usually offers high-priced items which can be paid through Apple Pay.

With the stolen information from the stolen cards and credit card information, the thieves can now register their new iPhones to make new purchases. Dramatic increase of fraud cases are now existing with Apple Pay as cited. The fraud cases involved millions of dollars linked to the stolen mobile payments. Based from the report, this was possible because of the recently-launched tokenisation system that uses Visa, the integral part of the Apple Pay transactions.

So far, there were no reports of any fraudulent activities related to Samsung Pay. This was reported that it has the specs needed to surpass Apple Pay especially with the security of the person's data including the prevention to be victimized from the scammers around.
