Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Samsung Galaxy S6: How Is The New Flagship Smartphone Better?

By

Samsung had revealed the newest addition to their family of smart phones at the Mobile World Congress this month. This action has implied that users can now set aside their Samsung S5 for the newer and grander Samsung S6. Recalling the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5, the event may not be considered as a failure but it surely was not one of the best devices that the gigantic mobile company has to offer. It was reported that Samsung had missed out its total target of sales by 40%. So now with the launch of the S6, users would now be able to enjoy the newest features that Samsung has to offer.

If you are wondering as to how this device could be a better smart phone, here are some specs and features comparisons.

Design and Display

The Galaxy S5 when it was released had utilized plastic as a dominant feature for their handset. This decision became a bad call for the company as many users had disliked the design. It was less noticeable compared to other mobile competitors whose devices were furnished with metal. Thus it was conclusive that Samsung would be employing a full metal chassis, super thin profiles, and a near-perfect finish. The design is way more advanced than any other android devices.

And to further optimize the design and display of the said smart phone, Samsung Galaxy S6 will be sporting a 5.1 in QHD Super AMOLED panel. It will carry a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixel. Its pixel density will would be 577 pi.

Processor and Storage

The Galaxy S5 was not able to wait for an improved chipset since at its launched date; it had carried a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset. Shortly after the Galaxy 5 was announced, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 was released. This would have been a better option for the S5.

But in the recent release of the Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung will be utilizing an Exynos 7420. This is a 14nm chipset which includes four Cortex-A53 and four Cortex-A57 cores.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 will also increase its storage capacity. The 2GB RAM from S5 will now be 3GB for the Galaxy S6. However, its internal memory will be restricted to 32/64/128 GB. Although this is a very large consumable memory, it is non expandable through SD cards unlike the former S5 16/32 GB with micro SD.

Camera

When it comes to camera quality Samsung had focused on the selfie takers as compared to the rear camera users. The Samsung Galaxy S6 will be having a 16 MP rear camera (similar to S5) but will be having a 5 MP front camera (Samsung Galaxy S5 had 2.1 MP).

Software

Samsung Galaxy S6 will run on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with Samsung's Touchwiz UI. This is a more modest software compared to the Android 4.4.2 - Kitkat + Touchwiz. The new Galaxy S6 will be less congested as compared to the previous version. The device will contain lesser preinstalled apps but would still function efficiently.

In general users would be able to claim that the new Samsung S6 will be a huge leap from the previous Samsung Galaxy S5. However, the notable features such as the micro SD and the battery support feature were set aside by the new model.
