Although it remains unannounced until today if the much-anticipated iPhone 6s will be launched at the Spring Forward event of Apple on March 8 in San Francisco, reports have been irrepressible with the unstinting leaks of its specifications.
While Apple Watch has been scheduled to debut at the Spring Forward event, iPhone 6s is reportedly in the lab as some would say, giving hints of what is to come for Apple's next generation flagship smartphone.
In a report from Apple Insider, Apple SIM feature will give future iPhone 6s users the ability to select a carrier on their own out of the box like that of iPad Air 2. In a word, iPhone 6s purchased directly from Apple would give owners the liberty to pick and choose plans at will.
However, mobile carriers are likely to cut support for the development unless the handset is purchased from a certain network then it will locked to that network.
The tech titan is stepping up with LPDDR4, a faster RAM technology. Possibly upgraded to 2 GB capacity, the new RAM module is reported to be manufactured by Hynix or Micron-Elpida as they produced the current RAM devices of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Additional RAM would allow iOS to leave background tasks and tabs in Safari open for longer without a need to reload or refresh. But additional RAM can also come with costs to battery life, as memory constantly consumes power.
Although said to sport the same build design with iPhone 6, UK-based website Mac Rumors sited that iPhone 6s will also have significant internal enhancements, including the use of 14nm A9 processor and a dual-lens DSLR camera. On top of that, Force Touch technology used in Apple Watch might also be integrated in its design which enables device to determine whether touch is forceful or quick press only.
With this technology, however, Apple needs to overhaul its screen display design as Apple Watch did use OLED display and electrode sensors to support Force Touch feature.
If Apple follows its conventional annual release schedule, the next iPhone device shall be revealed in September, and will expectedly be released to the public soon after.
