The long wait is finally over. Kelly Clarkson has released her new album, Piece by Piece, which came out on March 3. The original American Idol took a three and a half year hiatus, and fans are glad that she is back.
The American Idol powerhouse certainly made a cause for a comeback with an album that seeks to reinvent herself as an artist. Kelly Clarkson certainly isn't one to lose herself in a sea of mainstream artists. But will this be her last album?
The proud new mom has been keeping herslef busy during her hiatus. She married Brandon Blackstock in 2013, and had daughter River Rose in June. Will Kelly Clarkson give up being a recording artist for motherhood?
Clarkson was very vocal about her morning sickness during her pregnancy and she even admitted to recording while she was pregnant with her daughter!
"I was pretty much trapped in my vocal booth since I would vomit 20 times a day," Clarkson said. "But being inspired by other songwriters got me out of my dark little rabbit hole!"
Kelly also had a traumatic experience during her pregnancy where she almost lost her voice, and she thought she would never sing again.
"At around eight months pregnant, my voice changed. I was like, 'It's over! I had a great ride, but it's not coming back!' " Clarkson recalled. "I was so distraught."
The American Idol alum shared how much motherhood has changed her and her perspective on the world.
"I love what I do, but I feel like I relied on my career a lot for my self-worth. And now I'm more than that," said Kelly. "I've accomplished a lot, but I guess the biggest success I want is that whenever I die people will say, 'She was so successful as a mother, and as a wife.' That's kind of my big goal."
Clarkson seems to be excelling in both motherhood and in her singing. But would she ultimately give up singing to be a full-time mom? Being as it is, 'Piece by Piece' has generated some rather positive feedback by critics, and Kelly Clarkson is even going out on tour which would start on July 11.
It looks like busy mom Kelly Clarkson isn't quitting the music scene anytime soon.
