Even the iPhone 6s has not been officially announced, another iPhone in the market is chilling hot in the heels. Type in iPhone 7 on Chrome and Google will show 1.3 billion search results in less than a second. Possibility for iPhone 7 to come out is too vast for Apple fanatics since they are well-aware that innovation never stops at the 6 line.
Various websites compiled rumors of features, specs, design and even release for iPhone 7. Here is a simple rundown what iPhone 7 will look like based on earlier hints reported.
When it will finally come out, iPhone 7 is supposed the 12th smartphone in the iPhone family. With the current 4-inch (iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s), 4.7-inch (iPhone 6) and 5.5-inch (iPhone 6 Plus) screen variations, iPhone 7 is expected to sport a bigger screen size. An anonymous source, however, revealed that Apple is brewing a 4-inch iPhone, which means it could iPhone 6s or iPhone 7. iPhone 7's name could also be iPhone 6c. Another name prospected to tag the smartphone is iPhone Air following the MacBook Air and iPad Air devices.
If Apple remains to conventional time schedule, iPhone 7 shall arrive in September. In terms of screen size, iPhone 6's 4.7 inches screen seems to be the favorite since iPhone 6 Plus is way too big, while iPhone 5s appears to be old-fashioned too.
iPhone 7 also could feature a 3D display according to Chinese website Economic Daily News (via Google Translate). The same site reported that Apple's supply chain TPK is working on a "naked eye 3D screen," which does not require glasses.
The phone's camera is suspected to be the biggest camera jump in the history of iPhone. Daring Fireball's John Gruber said in podcast on his blog that iPhone 7's camera will have a two-lens system which will help users capture DSLR-like images. Reportedly, an added optical zoom and high-end nightscape technology are some of the advantages of the new camera setup for the future iPhone.
In terms of processor, Samsung is already contracted to supply Apple's smaller, more powerful and efficient A9 processor chips using a 14nm design. For gamers, joystick style home button is rumored to appear. Home button would pop up on a little spring and turn into a mini joystick.
This rumor is supported by an Apple patent application numbered 20150015475 originally filed on July 9, 2013 but only published on January 15, 2015 by the US Patent Office.
Force Touch technology, meanwhile, is the touch-sensitive display technology that Apple is already using in its Apple Watch, and enables the device to differentiate between a tap and a press.
Already used in Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, wireless charging could also hit new iPhones, which can be used up to four hours in ten minutes of charging.
iOS 9 is also likely to introduce new features that features improved parental controls, group FaceTime calls and split-screen app multitasking.
Another patent has also been revealed which is suspected to be an improved Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The improved technology is expected to eliminate the need for a home button and making more space for display.
As per published patents, the future iPhone hints that its displays extends to sides of the device to provide interactive access to the slide to unlock functionality, music player controls, caller ID, messaging readout, system controls and more.
Apple is rumored to remain with Gorilla Glass, which is sturdier compared to the limited Sapphire Glass. A liquid metal chassis is also in under consideration. Its aluminum build achieves the same degree of strength as metal, and will make new iPhones more sleek and thin.
Without any official statement from Apple, iPhone 7 will continue to hound rumors of features and specs.
