12-Inch Retina Display MacBook Air March Launching alongside Apple Watch Plausible?

By

The 12-inch Retina Display MacBook Air is set to arrive in the second quarter of the year, in between April to June as it will not be released in large quantities until such months come.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the MacBook Air 2015 version won't be available for mass release until sometime between April and June, supplying it as a link to the previous news that mass production of the device started as early as December 2014.

If Apple is gearing for a Q2 launching of MacBook Air with Retina Display, then it could be possibly unveiled alongside Apple Watch on March 9 at its Spring Forward event in San Francisco. There seems to be no conflict too with respect to its rumored Broadwell processors as it is already launched in January and are made available to device makers. This could mean that production is already underway, making the March event plausible.

It's also interesting to point out that Apple Watch is an accessory; and based on Apple's launching history, it has never held an event solely for an accessory. Even if it is an entirely new product line, it does not change the fact that it is an accessory to iPhone.

This observation from GIGAOM, coupled with the conclusions mentioned above, sound sensible enough to believe that there's a high chance for Apple to hold a back-to-back launching this March 9.

But then again there is the WWDC, an event where Apple had a launching history not only once but twice.

The concept of the "radically new design" 12-inch MacBook Air first emerged in January on Marc Gurman's website 9to5Mac, complete with renders and information from Apple. Gurman describes it as such, because according to the information he presented, the MacBook Air 2015 model will be extra thin making inputs limited to a reversible USB Type-C port, dual microphones and headphone jack. The full-sized USB ports, SD Card slot, and MagSafe connector will be stripped from the gadget.

A refresh of the 11 and 13-inch MacBook Air is also said to be coming on its way after screenshots of the 13-inch MacBook Air with a Broadwell processor and integrated Intel HD 6000 graphics were posted on a Chinese website and soon after shared to various web portals for everyone to see and judge its merits.
