Lars Ulrich has just recently revealed the details on Metallica's new album. According to the drummer of the most successful heavy metal thrashers, they are working very hard in writing their new songs every day and about 20 of them are nearly done. Ulrich also recalled the day the band started out as they re-release their demo "No Life 'til Leather".
NEW ALBUM
Metallica's latest album is about to launch their latest album since they've released "Death Magnetic" last 2008. According to Lars Ulrich "We've got lots of songs, and we're honing them and tweaking them. It's pretty close." They are working hard on their latest album and wanted to keep their material together. The drummer explained that "You want to tweak it and get it good, but you also want to record it in a way where it doesn't feel labored over and overthought."
Metallica promises that they are going to try new things in their new album but there won't be a surprise release. Lars Ulrich was quick to note that "Right now, it's not like we're going to do one of those things where we'll just give it to iTunes on Thursday without telling anybody," adding that. "That's not in the cards."
Lars further explained that the creative elements in Metallica's new album are "getting close to being done." However fans of the Metal band ought to be patient since, according to Lars, "this is still 'Metallica time.' When I say we're close to being done, it means the next month or so. There's a lot of stuff going on as life continues with family and personal events.... But we are certainly down there [writing] pretty much every day."
The highly anticipated latest album is expected to top the Billboard 200 since Metallica's past studio albums have always reached No. 1 in the charts.
NO LIFE 'TIL LEATHER
For fans who cannot wait buy Metallica's New Album, they can still get their "No Life 'Til Leather" re-release demo on cassette on April 18. It will also be available on CD and vinyl format at a later date. The No Life 'Til Leather album is a reissue of the early demo Metallica and it is considered a tribute in the first years of the band's formation.
Lars looks at the reissued demo as a documentation of the "crazy, fun first year" of Metallica. He recalled that he used to deliver newspaper at 4 am during the last year of high school. He would then hang out with Dave Mustaine and Ron McGovney, the first guitarist and bassist for Metallica, and they "and then we would just play and write and sit around and drink beer and listen to metal records." He also said that "The No Life Til Leather stuff just sounds so effortless, like it was all put together in an afternoon, which it was."
Metallica's New Album will be released this year. Fans can expect the heavy metal band to finish their writing process in the upcoming months. "No Life 'Til Leather" reissued demo will be available on cassette this April 18.
