'Rock Band 4' doubts DLC PS4, Xbox One compatibility to old consoles release? Harmonix reveals high prices for game purchases

By

Yesterday, Harmonix announced the last day of their limited edition Penny Arcade guitar for the upcoming game "Rock Band 4." The game will be released in PS4 and Xbox One. Though previous consoles were still under development whether it will be good for the next gen consoles, Harmonix revealed.

Through the official Twitter account of "Rock Band 4," they tweeted, "If you're still at PAX East you've got 15 MINUTES to buy our limited edition Penny Arcade guitar for Rock Band 4. According to one forum, it was mentioned that the Penny Arcade guitar will be compatible with current-generation consoles. On the other end of the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms, there was uncertainty if the game can also be good for an optimal gaming experience.

Harmonix Chief Executive Officer Steve Janiak expressed his excitement for the release of the game along with its exciting features that players can surely enjoy. He said, "With Rock Band 4, we're doubling down our energy and excitement of playing music live with your friends ... Focusing on the core experience that our fans have told us the love allows us to evolve established gameplay in the meaningful ways that we can't wait to share with everyone later this year."

President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz, on the other hand, also said his view while working with Harmonix. He cited, "Harmonix possesses unrivalled passion and vision for music gaming and we can't wait to introduce the next generation music platform to passionate gamers."

With its music, Rock Band 4 will also have its downloadable songs available for purchase. Aside from that, the songs previously purchased from the old consoles such as PS3 and Xbox 360, only 95% of them are good for the upcoming version. Harmonix revealed that they are still working on the compatibility of these different versions.

But for those who wished to have newer versions of soundtracks for the game, Rock Band 4 will be featuring "top-tier" music, while Harmonix is currently preparing the cost allocated for this type of soundtrack list because they have promised that they will be giving off fans the aspect that made the previous series really successful.

Harmonix Music Systems Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Alex Rigopulos revealed that with the compatibility of the old plastic guitars to next-generation consoles of the game, he is still hoping that Sony and Microsoft will allow the game developer to include these old version models to the new consoles.

"I think that the weekly model did work very well for the last time around. It's certainly our plan to have a steady, ongoing series of indefinitely after the release of the core title. Whether the weekly rhythm is the correct rhythm or not, I don't know that's the set yet."

In terms of pricing, he also noted that currently they are still doing experiments, however, raising the prices will be possible. He quoted, "In terms of pricing, [raising] is possible. My guess is that we'll be doing a number of pricing experiments to see what works for the audience, and what's sustainable."

Fans will know more about further details about the game this May as Harmonix will announce them on the said month.
