The colorful and witty episodes that fans really loved are coming back in the 'Orange is the New Black' Season 3, as a rebound from the darkness and heavy drama of the previous season. Joining the fun are new faces including Mary Steenburgen, Blair Brown, Marsha Stephen Blake, George Mendez, Mike Birbiglia and Ruby Rose.
The new season will have a total of 44 episodes and will feature cast regulars Red (Kate Mulgrew), Nicky (Natasha Lyonne), Pennsatucky (Taryn Manning), Taystee (Danielle Brooks), Gloria Mendoza (Selenis Levya), and Morello (Yael Stone), who will all be returning from the previous season.
According to the show's insiders, some returning characters will be reintroduced, such as Kimiko Glenn who will be playing as Brook Soso. And some fresh faces will make an appearance, including Mary Steenburgen, Blair Brown, Marsha Stephen Blake, George Mendez, Mike Birbiglia and Ruby Rose.
It was reported that Steenburgen will be playing the role of Pornstache's mother. Blake's character will be arriving at the Litchfield prison as the new corrections officer while Ruby Rose has been tapped to play Stella Carlin. Comedian Mike Birbiglia of "Sleepwalk with Me" fame will also make a cameo but his role is unconfirmed yet in Season 3.
Speaking of Ruby Rose, it was previously teased that a hot model will be joining the entire crew. Ruby Rose role is going to be heavy and will probably make the jail life more interesting, or that she will be a threat to Piper and Alex. It is speculated that most inmates would fall for Rose's character.
Aside from new faces, some known cast will no longer be seen in the upcoming season. It has been reported that Jason Biggs is leaving the show. Biggs played Larry in the comedy series. It will be interesting to see how his absence plays out on the new season.
It was learned that Biggs has already landed a new acting role on Broadway. Biggs will star on Broadway alongside Elisabeth Moss in "The Heidi Chronicles."
Netflix has recently named June 12 as the premiere date for 'Orange Is the new Black' Season 3.
