While ABC is yet to announce plans for "Castle" Season 8, 'Castle' star Stana Katic shared her thoughts on the possible "series finale" of the hit American crime drama.
Katic, who plays Detective Kate Beckett, entertained some of her fans' questions on Twitter Sunday night, including one that talked about the show's "series finale." Asked about how she felt about "Castle" series finale, the 36-year-old actress replied, "Proud of all we've accomplished. Grateful 4 being part of the ride."
It is not clear, however, whether Katic's response is a result of her misunderstanding the question or an actual confirmation about the show's conclusion. An ABC representative clarified that the actress' tweet was "just a mistweet," according to Headlines & Global News.
Nevertheless, Katic's tweet has elicited strong reactions from people and made a lot of "Castle" fans curious about the future of the hit TV series. One Twitter user replied, "series finale, excuse me? you mean season, right?" Another said, "this tweet needs to be clarified there are millions of people weeping across the globe"; while one fan exclaimed, "i just saw that and kind of panicked a little bit!?! i hope they mean season!"
Stana Katic has starred on "Castle" from Season 1 to Season 7 as one of its two lead characters. His co-star Nathan Fillion plays the role of Richard Castle, a best-selling mystery novelist. The contracts of the two will expire at the end of the current season, and neither Fillion nor Katic has signed on for another season, according to HNGN.
Apparently, Katic's latest tweet is not the first time she talked about the show's conclusion. During her interview with TV Line last November, she shared that "it's about art over finance." "If the character is complete, if there is nowhere else to go creatively, then I think it's better to stop when you're on top," the actress explained.
For the meantime, fans will have to wait for a formal announcement from ABC regarding "Castle" Season 8. The network has not announced a renewal decision on any of its current shows, including "Castle."
