Derrick Rose was first thought to be out for the rest of the season but the 26-year-old Chicago Bulls' point guard could possibly be back on the court in four to six weeks after tearing his meniscus, ESPN Chicago's Nick Friedell reported.
Friedell noted that Rose started his rehabilitation at the team's training facility, a day after he underwent meniscectomy on his right knee.
"It's just the initial steps, but we're cautiously optimistic," said Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau. "He's in good spirits. He's on it, so it's good."
K.C. Johnson of Chicago Tribune also cited same details from the head coach's tweet informing him that Rose's rehab is onging and will certainly be back to play this season.
Rose will address media in coming days. But he's in good spirits, walking fine, began rehab. Very confident he'll play this season.

Thibodeau has provided Derrick Rose full support all these injury-plagued years and strongly believes that his high-paid superstar could return to his best shape that has made Chicago Bulls' one of the most formidable teams in the East.
"He'll get past this hurdle," Thibodeau said to The Tribune. "He has made it through two tough rehabs. This one will be much shorter, and he'll get back to being who he is."
If Derrik Rose makes an early return, four weeks after surgery, he could technically be back in the Bulls' rotation on Friday, March 20, in a home matchup versus the No. 2 seed Toronto Raptors that at present, holds a half-game lead over No. 3 Chicago.
Buit If Rose returns in six weeks, he will be on the court on April 3 against the lowly Detroit Pistons.
Needless to say, what could matter is how the Chigaco Bulls team can perform in the absence of 2011 league MVP. The team has indeed managed to play without Rose the last two seasons, garnering a high No. 4 seed in the East and the second-round of the postseason in 2013.
Chicago Bulls' current stat is 37-23 on the year after losing the game 96-86 to Los Angeles Clippers Sunday sans Rose. 22 games remain for the team before the playoffs, 12 of which will be on the road, and 12 against teams currently in the postseason.
