Minecraft Game News: Turkish Family Ministry Concludes Videogame Should Be Banned Because Of Violent Content, Microsoft Comes Out With A Defense

Mojang hit sandbox game Minecraft is under investigation by Turkey's government because of its violent content. It leads to a month long probe in the country based on the report released on Tuesday from Hurriyet Daily News and LeaderGamer. They said the game is up for banning in Turkey by Turkey's Family and Social Policies Ministry.

Based on the report of a local media, the Turkey legal affairs department, with directions for how they would ban the game in the country, although, there is still no final decision and the courts in the country will have the final say. The Swedish developer Mojang created Minecraft, the franchise is recently sold to Microsoft for $2.5billion.

Given Minecraft's appeal and popularity with children, not to say its rating as E- for everyone in the United States, it is a surprise that it's under investigation for violence.

When the Turkish government announced that Minecaraft is under investigation for a month now, it also criticizes the game's representations of violence against women, Microsoft, the franchise owner issues the following statement in GameSpot:

"The world of Minecraft can be a dangerous place: it's inhabited by scary, genderless monsters that come out at night," it said at the time. "It might be necessary to defend against them to survive. If people find this level of fantasy conflict upsetting, we would encourage them to play in Creative Mode, or to enable the Peaceful setting. Both of these options will prevent monsters from appearing in the world."

GameSpot has talked to Microsoft to check if the firm has new stand to give since the Minecraft investigation continues. Turkish government is implementing its censorship measures recently. They have general steps taken to limit of YouTube, Twitter and Facebook contents. The Game of Thrones is prohibited in military schools by the Turkish army.
