Ever since comic book superheroes were introduced, people have been pitting them against each other - it does not matter whether these superheroes come from the same universe or another. The interesting thing is, when you ask a world-famous actor, who portrays a superhero in the big screen, if his character would win against another superhero, his or her answer will always be something that fans will want to know.
Such a thing happened recently in New York City. Actor Hugh Jackman (who everybody, whether a comic book fan or not, knows widely as 'Wolverine') was interviewed while he was promoting his upcoming film 'Chappie' when he was asked whether his character Wolverine would also be going over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe like what Sony did to Spider-Man.
"There's so many forces at play there man, beyond what anyone would want. The thing I've always loved about the comic book world, the fun thing is how a writer of a comic book could just pull all these characters together. What became a Friday night discussion of, 'Ah, it would be cool to see Batman fight Wolverine.' Bang! Monday morning, they're working on it. That's an idealized world," Jackman said in the interview, according to ComicBook.com.
Jackman's response led Neill Blomkamp, who directed 'Chappie,' to ask the actor his thoughts on a fight between his Wolverine and Christian Bale's Batman. "I suppose without some of his technology, you would just cut him up," Blomkamp says. "If he was in the Tumbler it would be a battle."
Jackman had one simple answer about this concept: "We can try and stretch the movie out beyond a short, but I'm guessing it'd be a short."
It is not difficult to justify Jackman's claims. Batman, with all of his intellect and technological prowess, is but a mortal man in a highly-advanced suit. Wolverine, on the other hand, is practically immortal, has centuries of experience in combat, and senses that would render the Dark Knight's stealth abilities useless.
'Superhero Beatdown,' a show on Youtube that puts two superheroes against each other, made a segment wherein Batman faced Wolverine. Truly enough, the Dark Knight did not last for long. You can check out the video below:
