'Terminator Genisys' twist ending revealed? Could it potentially ruin the Arnold Schwarzenegger franchise?

By

Terminator Genisys, the fifth film in the much-beloved Terminator franchise, is not quite a sure thing for this summer. Obviously, Terminator fans are excited to see another film in the series, but some seem skeptical, and reactions to the early trailer for Terminator Genisys have been mixed at best.

What's worse, is that recent reviews of a leaked script have been overwhelmingly negative (although admittedly, it's not clear if the leaked script is legit, or if it's just a phony thing someone typed up and sent around).

But if it's true, and the leaked script is real, Terminator Genisys might be enough to stop the Terminator franchise in its tracks. According to MoviePilot, the ending from the script has been revealed, and its far more bizarre than any Terminator fan might be expecting. Obviously, there are going to be SPOILERS after this point, so turn away if you'd like to avoid anything about the ending of Terminator Genisys (or anything that might remotely resemble the ending of Terminator Genisys).

Ready?

Ok.

So at the end of Terminator Genisys, it's been revealed that John Connor, human hero and leader of the resistance... is really a Terminator, having been infected by a new kind of Terminator robot that can transform humans into cyborg warrior via nanomachines. And ultimately, it's up to Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 Terminator to defeat the Connor Terminator and save the day, which he'll do- but eventually transforming into a T-1000 liquid metal Terminator in the process.

In the right hands, that could be an excellent addition to the Terminator franchise. But in the wrong hands, it could border on silly (or worse, stupid) and cause fans to turn away from Terminator and cut off the future of potential Terminator sequels (of which there are several in development).

Terminator Genisys premieres on July 1, 2015.
