The MSI GT80 gaming laptop is a worthy rival for high-end desktops designed for gaming, according to PC World. The MSI GT80 gaming laptop is faster than most of the gaming desktops currently available. It manages to approach speeds once exclusive only to desktops thanks to its high-end GPU.
With its two GeForce GTX 980M units operating in SLI, the MSI GT80 can run its baseclock all the way up to 1,038 MHz while also running 1,536 cores. In comparison, its desktop counterpart, the GeForce GTX, is capable of producing a baseclock of 1.26 MHz while operating with 2,048 cores.
Once the figures are calculated, they show the performance of the MSI GT80 to be approximately 80 percent as potent of that of its desktop counterpart.
Speed is not the only component of the MSI GT80 which has gamers excited. The laptop also features the 87-key SteelSeries keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches, according to Gizmodo Australia. The laptop's mechanical keyboard is paired with gel palm rest.
The MSI GT80 is also equipped with an 18.4 inch WLED FHD screen complete with anti-glare and 1920x1080 resolution. The screen's measurements make it one of the larger ones available for laptops, according to Tech Times.
Other notable features of the MSI GT80 include a fourth generation quad-core Intel i7 processor with a top speeds ranging from 2.6 to 2.8 GHz while also showcasing a solid state drive of 256 GB. The MSI GT80 contains 16GB of RAM and a hard drive with 1TB of storage capability.
Also of note on the MSI GT80 are its Dynaudio speakers and collection of varied connection options. The laptop is also equipped with five USB ports, three monitor outputs and optical audio.
The MSI GT80 is packaged along with the Windows 8.1 OS.
The laptop is currently available at different prices ranging from $3,300 to $3,800.
