Demi Lovato Marks Third Year of Sobriety, Thanks Boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama For Keeping Her “Alive”

Demi Lovato has stayed sober for three years now - a feat she celebrates by thanking everyone who has been part of her journey to sobriety, particularly boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama.

The "Skyscraper" hit-maker recently took to Twitter to thank her family, friends and fans who have helped her reach her "3rd birthday." Yet, she made sure to give a special shout-out to her actor-singer beau on Instagram, saying she "wouldn't be alive" if not for him.

The former Disney star on Sunday posted a romantic photo of her and Valderrama kissing, along with a lengthy caption expressing her love and gratefulness for him. "I wish I could put into words how grateful I am for this man right here. But my love has grown to a level that words could never possibly express how much this man completes me," Lovato wrote.

"He's loved me the way I never thought I deserved to be loved and with this day marking my 3rd year sober," the "Let It Go" singer continued. "After sharing my ups, putting up with my downs and supporting my recovery... he still never takes credit and I want the world to know how incredible his soul is. I really wouldn't be alive today without him. I love you Wilmer."

Demi Lovato, 22, has been open about her personal struggles in the past, including her battles with depression, bipolar disorder, an eating disorder, and substance abuse problems. Three years ago she decided to face and deal with her addictions and problems, and her "That '70s Show" actor boyfriend Valderrama has been supportive throughout her journey to recovery, according to US Weekly.

The "Heart Attack" singer will celebrate her sobriety anniversary with her first annual Lovato Scholarship Benefit on March 18, Wednesday at Troubadour in Los Angeles.

Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit The Lovato Treatment Scholarship, a program that covers mental health treatment expenses for individuals with financial hardship, E! News said.
