The zombie-infested action games "Dead Rising 2" and "Dead Rising 2: Off the Record" are now formally parts of Steam, according to PC Gamer.
The titles will be departing from Games for Windows Live and the new versions are expected to introduce new elements into the mechanics of the action thriller.
Notable additions to the Steam versions thus far include achievements now being available to players and saving files via the cloud system. Other features players have become familiars such as leaderboards and trading cards will also become available in the new version, according to Eurogamer.
Players who already have a Steam copy of either of the games or retail copies still boxed will be given the chance to upgrade their currently owned units to the new version. Owners who got their copies via purchase through the Games of Windows Marketplace will not have the same opportunity.
Players who have a retail version of either "Dead Rising 2" or "Dead Rising 2: Off the Record" can also use the Games for Windows Live activation code to redeem the game for Steam if it has not been used previously, according to Capcom's official blog.
The Steam version of the two titles will not come bundled with the downloadable content already available for them.
"Unfortunately, DLC content purchased directly from Microsoft's GFWL Marketplace will not carry over to Steam due to lack of CD/activation key. Those who wish to play the game with their DLC can continue to do so with the GFWL version of the game installation and under the GFWL service," said Capcom on their official blog.
Capcom also said they are currently working on a migration tool which will transfer any save date players may have from the GFWL version of the titles to the new Steam platforms.
The migration tool is expected to become available soon after the Steam titles are launched.
