Final Fantasy fans began craving for more as FF: type-0 HD teases gamers with an endgame video apparently hinting a type-1 sequel. The said video hinting a sequel title in the making, can only be seen when players complete the game.
The recent release of Final fantasy type-0 HD on the PS4 immediately satisfied avid FF fans. Previously released on the Playstation Portable, type-0 was a huge success, which led to its eventual port into the new console. The FF series is famous for its memorable stories and creative RPG systems. Though gone are the FF days of turn-based gameplay, fans are not disappointed with the frantic, fast-paced battle sequences of type-0 that closely resembled Crisis Core.
The supposed sequel hint came from the endgame video, where the protagonist, who many claim as type-0's Ace, is seen resting inside a temple bruised, bloody, shot with arrows and apparently dying. Fire came out of the statue, embraced the protagonist and transformed him into a powerful, samurai-like character and finally topped off with a teasing "we have arrived," phrase in the end. The video does not explicitly tell gamers of another upcoming title and can just be a stylistic, open ending left for the imagination. Though the video is not proof of a sequel, optimism for a type-1 title is not unfounded.
Hajime Tabata, Square-Enix video game director handling FF: type-0 HD, is in favour of doing sequels, as he expressly told Kotaku: "I'd want to make Final Fantasy type-1 first." Tabata is also the director of the much awaited Final Fantasy XV set to arrive later this year. Aside from this, according to Gameinformer, trademarks for type 1, type 2 and type 3 have been filed already.
Though there is much hype over the sequel teasers, the apparent fruition of a FF: type-0 sequel will be dependent on the success of the bigger FF title set for release, Final Fantasy XV. Fans are in for a great year as two FF titles promises to lift the franchise out of its past failures and reignite the glory of this legendary series.
